Art exhibition - Pia F Forsström

'Man blir så glad...' shows mixed media and glass jewelry by Pia Forsström. The common thread for the works in these very different techniques is color joy. The exhibition is shown July 13-18 in the small gallery at Roddarhuset in Vaxholm.

Pia Forsström started working with mixed media seven years ago. The paintings in mixed media are made intuitively, usually with collage and acrylic, but also other elements. "It is happiness to cover the canvas with pieces of paper, let the paint run and suddenly see motifs emerge. I rarely have a plan, but as I work, many of the pieces take on a deeper meaning, often linked to animals, nature and what we humans are doing to our planet."

Pia also makes glass jewelry with playful shifts in shimmering colors. "The possibilities and limitations of glass make the technique both simple and challenging." She learned glass fusing in 2008 and was hooked. Over the years, she has learned more in Sweden, England and the USA.
